Uncensored Critique of Bush & Iraq War - No One Is Safe!

The bottom line here is that President Bush is an honest guy too blinded by his idealism to realize the corruption and incompetence of those around him. Some may argue the very notion of idealism in politics is stupid, but certainly no Democrat should since the Democratic stance on nearly every issue is what can the government do to help elevate citizens to an “ideal” society. And so the argument here goes that President Bush was idealistic and remains so in thinking that by establishing a democracy in Iraq, that could then serve as a “beacon of freedom” to spread like brushfire throughout the Middle East. Bush’s greatest fault lies not with the unfounded allegations that he lied and manipulated evidence to get us into war, but rather with the fact that he has betrayed the Republican party for abandoning the party’s most cherished assets: the discipline to know the limits of what any government is capable of achieving and the competence to solve problems realistically rather than idealistically.

Some question how anyone can even contemplate voting for a Republican candidate in the next election after this administration, but such reasoning is as stupid as questioning why anyone remains loyal to a sports team after a losing season. Bush, like an underperforming star player on any sports team, is now a disappointment to the Republican party on nearly every conservative front from failing to limit federal spending, failing to aggressively combat illegal immigration, and even abandoning past promises to pursue a Constitutional amendment defining marriage between a man and a woman. What I’m getting at is that Republicans are just as disappointed with Bush as Democrats, yet Republican disappointment is based on real criticism as opposed to the Democracts’ rhetoric.

Bush is not a liar, is not perpetuating this war for oil interests, and is not motivated by any other “evil” conspiracies that critics of his may concoct. The President is concerned first and foremost with his legacy and not with making his rich oil friends richer. After 9/11, Bush refused to ever let America be attacked on his watch. Any critic or current Democratic Presidential candidate that complains that Bush and his people “trumped-up” the evidence to go to war forget a few crucial facts. The first is that several intelligence agenices across the world agreed with the assessment of our CIA at the time that Saddam Hussein had weapons-enriching programs and secondly, and potentially most important, Saddam at the time claimed he did have them! Sure we know now Saddam talked up his arsenal so that he could be taken more seriously on the world stage; however, the President and the entire Congress voted to go to war based on the information available at the time.

Was it a mistake? Probably, but who cares now because it is a waste of time to rehash this old story, yet that is all the Democrats consistently bring up as recently as in this past week’s Democratic debate! Focusing on the future requires the Democrats to drop all claims that Bush got us into this war illegally or with bad intentions, because such is simply not true. Since the Democrats believe, as demonstrated by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s recent comments, that they benefit politically from failure in Iraq, don’t expect any reasoned debate between the two extreme opinions here. President Bush, who believes success and democracy are right around the corner in Iraq, versus the mainstream Democratic leaders and Democratic Presidential hopefuls who believe withdrawal tomorrow is what makes America most safe.

Neither side is correct since all experts agree stability in Iraq is years (and not months) away and since the Democrat’s answer of premature withdrawal does not deal with the mess that I like to call the “Boba Fett Problem!” To explain the picture above, it comes from one of the Star Wars movies and demonstrates a young Boba Fett holding the helmet of his deceased father Jango Fett who was killed at the hands of the Jedi right in front of his eyes. When Boba Fett is all grown up he becomes a bounty hunter that kills Jedi’s in later movies, presumably avenging the death of his father at their hands. To carry forth this analogy, hundreds of young Iraqis are similarly like Boba Fett, witnessing the American “Jedi” come in and kill members of their family. Therefore, leaving Iraq in a total state of chaos would allow these future “Boba Fetts” to have their hatred for America continue to boil to the point where a new crop of terrorists are created.

The bottom line is that there is no easy answer as to how get out with the least amount of damage, but neither the Republicans nor the Democrats win in the future if the “Boba Fett Problem” is not addressed appropriately!

Crystal Ball: 2008 Election + NBC's Heroes Moves To Thursday!

You heard it here first folks. In the spirit of going out on a limb and being controversial, the very purpose of this new online column, I am making a bold prediction that this is the exact match-up for the 2008 election! Below, the predictions for how I see the primary process going down! Remember this is not who I think should be chosen, but instead who I think will be chosen!

Your Republican Ticket: President Rudy Giuliani
Vice-President Newt Gingrich
Your Democratic Ticket: President Hillary Clinton
Vice-President Bill Richardson

Republicans Theme Song: “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”

The Republican Party is conscious that going into the 2008 election they are very much the underdog party. The American voters are already sick of incompetence, sick of corruption, sick of the Iraq War and truly sick of anything reminding them of the Bush Presidency and by November 2008 the current Administration will have accomplished nothing to erase this bad taste. Therefore, conventional wisdom suggests that voters will once again follow the pattern of the 2006 election and flock to the alternate. What keeps the Republican party a force to be reckoned with is primarily two factors: one is the fact that a Democratically-controlled Congress will fail to accomplish anything of significance by 2008 and the other is that the top-tier Republican candidates appeal to independent voters more than ever before!

Republican primary voters therefore will find themselves in a similar predicament that Democratic primary voters were in during the 2004 election. That is being in the undesirable and desperate position of seeking out any candidate who can actually win in the general election as opposed to selecting the candidate with the best conservative Republican record. In 2004, Democrat primary voters pushed John Kerry to the front of the pack not because he excited the base, but instead because they were so desperate to beat Bush that they wanted the most mainstream appealing candidate. Republican primary voters will similarly fall for Rudy’s mainstream appeal!

Now Why Would Rudy Choose Newt as His VP?
So what about John McCain? - - - - -Rudy getting the nomination almost comes with the assured promise on his part that his runningmate will be a strong conservative to appease (and bring out) the base. Selecting Rudy will be a tough pill for social conservatives to swallow, but given the urgency discussed above, they will be willing to swallow it once, but not twice. McCain, long distrusted by most in the Republican party, especially recently given reports that after the 2000 election he contemplated switching political parties, in no way satisfies the strong conservatives. In fact a Rudy-McCain ticket is basically a 1-2 punch of nearly the same candidate except one is really old and one isn’t, and if Rudy is at the top then having McCain onboard brings no new voters to Rudy and brings no promise of a new Republican rising star for the party down the road.

So what about Mitt Romney? - - - - - The current fundraising champ is stinking of being inauthentic, and if Rudy chose him as a runningmate it would cut against Rudy’s current street cred’ of take no bull from anyone. Furthermore, Romney is slowly shooting himself in the foot with the hunting guns he apparently never owned, and in light of the recent Virginia Tech tragedy, a shift now to be more in favor of guns seems like a politically stupid move.

So what about Tommy Thompson? - - - - - Will the real Thompson who has a chance please stand up!

So what about Fred Thompson? - - - - - The supposed savior of the Conservative movement is taking his sweet time in deciding whether or not to run at all. If he does, he will of course be a serious contender, however, shouldn’t really impact all the positives of Rudy as the most mainstream candidate, but could be appealing later as a runningmate.

So what about Sam Brownback or Tom Tancredo? - - - - - With each known for one issue (enforcing indecency standards in the media for Brownback and enforcing immigration laws with strict deportation of illegals for Tancredo) neither add much international experience or knowledge to the ticket, a void that a Rudy candidacy would need filled with the VP slot.

That leaves Newt Gingrich who gives Rudy all the inside DC connections he could ever hope for and who is often viewed as possibly the most articulate Republican while being a successful supporter of limited government philosophies across the board. Why even though he hasn’t declared his intention to run for President, is he consistently more visible in the mainstream media than current candidates? My guess is that he is actively campaigning for the position of VP specifically. And why not, looking across the board I cannot imagine any potential Republican candidate who would be at a disadvantage with Newt as their runningmate!

Wildcard: Mike Huckabee? Already actively praising Rudy on the campaign trail, saying how he admires Rudy’s unwillingness to change his personal views to win votes, it seems Huckabee is kissing up early and often!

Democrats Theme Song: “History Repeating”

This is a two-way race between Hillary and Obama, now that may be stating the obvious but let’s explore the many reasons why it should be a foregone conclusion that Hillary will triumph in the end . . .

Now with Hillary as the candidate - - - Why Richardson as VP?
So what about Barack Obama? - - - - -There is no chance in hell Hillary wants Barack on her ticket (and vice versa for that matter) since both are clearly conscious that asking the voters to break both the sex and race barrier at the same time is just too much to ask. Furthermore, their egos would not allow it, since Hillary would in no way want Obama overshadowing her as is clearly possible given the media’s fascination with him. Yet most significantly why there is absolutely no chance in hell is because it makes zero political sense whatsoever. Winning the nomination is only half the battle, Hillary still needs to win the general election and in order to do that, the whole purpose of a Vice President in modern political calculations is to pick up votes from a new part of the country in order to put that state “into play.” Obama, the Senator from Illinois puts no new states into play for Hillary, who as a clearly rebrandished “Northern” Democrat would need someone from the South to enhance her geographical appeal.

So what about John Edwards? - - - - - Well if he wasn’t already a losing Vice-Presidential candidate, then his selection would be at least possible. But the last thing Hillary wants to add is a further stench of “been there, done that” and especially with a man who carries baggage from his lesbian comment about Cheney’s daughter the last time around, to the fact that Elizabeth Edwards would steal more spotlight from Hillary and draw a none-too flattering comparison between a woman to feel compassion for versus one alleged to lack compassion, to finally the simple fact that Edwards didn’t deliver the last time he was on the ticket. Ultimately, Edwards has been going full throttle in calling Hillary out on her Iraq war vote and drawing sharp differences between himself and her, ultimately behavior suggesting he knows its top of the bill for him or bust!

So what about Joe Biden? - - - - -The Democratic authority on Iraq should seem like a go-to guy, but he never shuts up and often gets into trouble for verbal gaffes he makes during interviews. Doubtful he would add much appeal to the ticket.

So what about Chris Dodd? - - - - -Northern Democrat with little name recognition brings nothing to the table.

So what about Denis Kucinich? - - - - -Are you kidding?

That leaves Bill Richardson who is exploding with experience, comes from the South and look at that, he happens to be Latino! Aside from potentially energizing a whole new base of voters, picking a different minority as her runningmate gives Hillary the political cover to explain why she doesn’t pick Obama!

Wildcard: Senator Jim Webb from Virginia could be the confident, trustworthy white male Democrats are longing for to stabilize a Hillary ticket. With military credentials, right-leaning social stances, and the impressive State of the Union response he gave this past year, Webb is certainly a credible and competent selection.

Debate of the Week ONLY Heard Here!
*** With NBC on track to be the last placed network of the big Four in both overall audience and in the target demographic, look for NBC executives to attempt bold steps to reclaim past ratings glory! The debate here: should NBC move their only hit show from this past season Heroes to Thursday nights?

~Why Heroes SHOULD move to Thursdays: Thursday is the biggest night of television in that advertisers are willing to spend the most money on Thursday nights since it is the last chance to get the attention of consumers before they head out for the weekend to shop or see movies. NBC’s “Comedy Night, Done Right” of arguably the four most critically acclaimed television comedies on television today (Earl, Office, 30 Rock, Scrubs) recently earned NBC their lowest Thursday night ratings in recent memory! This embarrassment must end, and Heroes, a show NBC already promotes with a sizable advertising budget is just the show that could restore ratings glory to Thursday nights! Plus look at ABC, their risky decision of shifting Grey’s Anatomy to Thursday nights is arguably the sole reason ABC is not the last placed network this year instead of NBC!

~Why Heroes Should NOT move to Thursdays: There is always the risk that moving a show anywhere out of its comfort zone will result in major audience erosion. Just look at Lost, (the show most similar to Heroes with the same type of audience loyalty) which twice shifted times on the same night and lost major amounts of viewers after each switch. Furthermore, with so many holes on the NBC schedule, leaving a bright spot on Monday may be a good idea. Finally, putting Heroes against CSI and Grey’s Anatomy may result in a bloodbath for all three shows! But from NBC’s point of view, doing damage to your competition’s show is really a good thing!

Prediction: You heard it here first — Heroes WILL move to Thursdays at 9pm Next Year!

Just like Saturday Night Live spoofs every popular TV show, Schneider Factor was subjected to the same treatment by a competing show. We repeat, the actor in this video is NOT SCHNEIDER. Although director James Serrittella's use of the two cameraman did add a touch of realism, since Schneider in truth did fire both from the Factor prior to this spoof.
